THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE RUST BELT UNDERWORLD

“If Murphy can’t fix it, we’re all in trouble.”

THE ELEVATOR PITCH

The Book: One Man Crime Spree

The Genre: True Crime / Memoir

Erie, Pennsylvania was the “Switzerland” of the American Mob, a neutral zone exactly 100 miles between the crime families of Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo . Operating in this gap was The Secret Seven, a crew of thieves and runners led by the brilliant Jimmy “JR” Russell.

Tim “Murph the Surf” Murphy was “The Kid”, the driver, the machinist, and the protégé. This is the story of high-speed chases in 19-foot Cadillacs, the brutal reality of Attica, and the redemption of a man who went from a prison cell to a 30-year career as a corporate engineer.

TALKING POINTS / INTERVIEW ANGLES

1. The “Forest Gump” of the Mafia Tim Murphy operated in the same universe as the biggest names in mob history. He was the near brother-in-law of Ray Ferritto (the man who killed Danny Greene and inspired the movie Kill the Irishman). He faced down the crew of Russell Bufalino (Joe Pesci’s character in The Irishman) . He connects the dots of the Rust Belt wars.

2. The MacGyver Factor Murphy wasn’t a muscleman; he was a tech guy. He discusses the engineering of crime: building silencers, bypassing alarms, and using police technology against the cops. He brings a unique, intellectual perspective to the criminal lifestyle.

3. Surviving “The Big Bitch” Facing 25-to-Life under the Habitual Criminal Act . Surviving the “Hell Hole” of solitary confinement. The psychological toll of losing a loved one while incarcerated. Murphy offers a raw, unvarnished look at the 1980s penal system.

4. The Redemption How do you go from prisoner #85C0177 to a respected Control Systems Engineer for major corporations? Murphy’s journey is a blueprint for turning your life around when all hope is lost.
